Sauce:
2 tablespoons maple syrup
1 teaspoon sesame oil
2 garlic cloves, minced
½ tablespoon ginger, minced
2 tablespoons soy sauce
100 ml water
pepper, to taste
Meatballs:
500 g ground beef
50 g breadcrumbs
1 egg
1 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 teaspoon minced ginger
4 green onions, chopped
salt and pepper , to taste
To serve:
sesame seeds
1 green onion, chopped
Preheat oven to 200°C
FOR THE MEATBALLS:
Mix together all of the meatball ingredients in a bowl until well-combined. Shape into balls and place onto 1 baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden browned and cooked through.
FOR THE SAUCE:
Whisk all of the sauce ingredients together in a pan until well blended. Bring to a simmer and continue cooking until sauce thickens, while stirring occasionally to prevent burning or sticking on the bottom of the pan (about 8 minutes). Add water if necessary.
Coat meatballs with sauce and serve with wild rice and broccoli, sprinkle with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
